Amidst a packed Galen Center and the watchful eyes of LeBron James, USC’s Bronny James, returning after a cardiac arrest five months ago, marked his collegiate debut on Sunday against Long Beach State.

In a minutes-restricted appearance off the bench, Bronny contributed 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals during his 17 minutes on the court.

Former Chicago Bulls point guard turned ESPN analyst Jay Williams expressed optimism about USC’s future with Bronny during an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio.

“I think they will get a floor leader,” Williams said. “There’s no question around the talent that USC has. Boogie Ellis can score, Isaiah can play bully basketball, you know?

“You talk about how Kobe Johnson can get to where he wants on the floor and is great defensively but it doesn’t feel like they have maestro.

“It doesn’t feel like they have a player that can make the game easier for everybody especially in transition plays and I feel like that Bronny’s IQ and his professionalism I think will add different dimensions to them.”
