Anthony Edwards aims to surpass Kevin Durant’s Team USA scoring record

Anthony Edwards, the rising star of Team USA, is determined to etch his name in the annals of basketball history by surpassing Kevin Durant’s all-time scoring record for the national team.

In a dominant victory over Jordan, Edwards showcased his scoring prowess, tallying a game-high 22 points and helping the Americans close the first round of the FIBA World Cup with a perfect 3-0 record.

When asked about the task of eclipsing Durant’s record of 38 points, Edwards acknowledged the challenge but exuded confidence, saying (h/t Donatas Urbonas), “He’s probably one of the greatest players, and that will be tough. But, I mean… I’m going to try.”

Through three games in the World Cup, the 22-year-old guard has been averaging 16.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in just 20.9 minutes per game.
