After being cleareZion Williamson is making great progress in hopes to finally be back and help the New Orleans Pelicans’ push for a playoff ticket this season.

In the middle of the Pelicans’ 120-109 road loss against the Golden State Warriors, TNT’s Chris Haynes provided a key update regarding Williamson, who is reportedly tearing out his workout load.

“Zion Williamson is working out on the court,” Haynes said. “A source told me this morning that he had a rigorous workout this morning. [He’s] looking good, [his] explosiveness is looking there. And so as of right now, the plan is to re-evaluate it at some point in the middle of next week.”

Williamson has been out since Jan. 2 upon sustaining a strain in his right hamstring in a defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Since then, the Pelicans miserably stumbled amid promising start given also the unavailability of their core units in Brandon Ingram and Jose Alvarado. From being a top-seeded team, the club is now in danger of possibly missing the playoffs.

Williamson’s recovery and Pelicans’ postseason hopes were even more jeopardized when he had a setback last February, requiring him to miss a month again.

But thankfully with this update given by Haynes, Pels fans can at least be more optimistic as they are still looking to nail a playoff spot and keep their basketball year alive despite a challenging route.

“As far as that re-evaluation goes, it’s not for sure if he will be cleared at that time,” Haynes added. “So there’s still some hurdles, but the good news, he’s making progress. No setbacks as of right now.”

The 22-year-old star big man captured his second All-Star nod this year upon averaging 26.0 points and 7.0 boards in 60.8 percent efficiency. Though a sudden grinding basketball play at his part will be risky, his potential presence next week with four games left for NOLA will certainly be helpful on the club to at least obtain a play-in ticket.
