Jaren Jackson has responded to the viral Reddit conspiracy that claims Memphis scorekeepers have been inflating his stats.

The post’s author pointed to Jackson averaging 4.2 blocks at home and 2.1 on the road, an 89 percent increase. The Redditor in question also mentioned that Jackson is averaging nearly 1.4 steals per game at home and 0.63 on the road, a 120 percent increase.

Jackson has since appeared on the Chris Vernon Show to discuss the whole thing.

“I was getting a bunch of texts from my friends talkin’ bout, like, ‘don’t listen to whatever’, or it was ‘I always got your back, bro’,” he said. “And I thought it was just regular ‘I always got your back’. And I’m like ‘my friends are real nice today, what’s goin on?”

When asked why he thought his block numbers were so much higher at home, Jackson smiled and said, “I don’t know. It be lit at home. My bed’s nice at home. My house is here.”

Jackson insisted he still hadn’t read the thread, laughing about the fact he was quite “ill informed” about the whole thing.

Meanwhile, numerous media members have dug deep into the theory. ESPN’s Kirk Goldsberry and The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor both reviewed all 66 of Jackson’s blocks at home.

Goldsberry concluded that “of the 66 blocks, 60 are clearly blocked by JJJ … 3-5 are questionable and two are kinda sus(pect).” O’Connor claimed “only three of his 66 home blocks are incorrectly labeled.”
