Patriots add Brandon – British Basketball League
With the Plymouth City Patriots opening game of the season only days away, the squad will be boosted by experienced BBL Brit, Isa Brandon.
The 25 year old has already enjoyed two BBL seasons, impressing with his high intensity defence and athletic play.
Brandon has a wealth of BBL experience, and gained a solid foundation and understanding of basketball as a youth, attending Heritage High School, Florida where he learned the foundations of basketball, before playing two years at Johnson & Wales University, also in Florida.
In 2019, Brandon broke into the Plymouth Raiders first team, having impressed Head Coach Paul James with his all round ability. He would go on to start three games in his rookie season and contribute across the board, whilst developing his now trademark defensive game.
The following season Brandon made a leap both in his playing ability and location, making the longest journey in the BBL, to play for the Glasgow Rocks (now Caledonia Gladiators). He enjoyed a competitive season for the Scottish club, playing in twenty nine fixtures and securing a place in the starting line-up for twelve league games. During this season his points per game rocketed into double figures and he managed to achieve over a steal per game, but perhaps the most impressive improvement to Brandon’s game was his ability to pass and share the ball, averaging nearly three assists per game and enjoying the ball in his hands a great deal more.
Last season Brandon played a handful of games in the improving and semi professional Ireland 1st for Killorglin, but is now excited to be making the step up and return to the premier league in British Basketball.
“He’s a solid player and can give us more depth in the team,” said Head Coach Paul James. “The intensity he brings will not only help on game days, but also in training. He is always improving and it will be great to work with him again.”
