The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially expressed their apology with regards to the viral homophobic statements of their franchise star in Anthony Edwards.

On behalf of the club, President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly released a public statement on Monday, stating that they “disappointed” on Edwards as they are “committed to being inclusive and welcoming organization for all.”

Edwards was under fire after posting a controversial Instagram story on Sunday, mocking a group of shirtless men and calling them “queer a*s n****s” and even followed it up by “Look what the world done came to” in his recording while laughing.

Following public backlash directed to him, Edwards deleted the story and provided an apology via Twitter.

It remains yet to be seen if the NBA will slap Edwards a punishment, though players like Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant and Rajon Rondo have faced disciplinary penalties after their respective homophobic actions from the past.
