The Sacramento Kings have been one of the most disappointing teams of this century. They currently hold the record for the longest playoff drought across all of North American professional sports.

Sacramento has failed to qualify for the postseason in 16-straight seasons, but as the offseason progresses, it’s clear that they are hell-bent on ending that embarrassing drought.

Last year, the Kings made a splash at the trade deadline. In a move that sent shockwaves across the entire NBA landscape, they dealt young guard Tyrese Haliburton to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Domantas Sabonis.

Many people around the league were shocked that the Kings decided to trade Haliburton, but considering Sabonis is the better player right now, it’s clear that they are trying to make something happen right now.

The combination of Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox creates one of the more intriguing young duos in the NBA, and so far this summer, they’ve made the necessary moves to improve even more.

Already this offseason, the Kings have added guys like Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter, and they also drafted Keegan Murray with the fourth pick in the draft.

However, as they look to put together a playoff-caliber team alongside Fox and Sabonis, they could still attempt to make more deals to add win-now talent to the roster.

So, in this trade, they would be adding a dynamic wing talent who can help them compete on both ends of the court, as they’d be making a move for Dillon Brooks.
