Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets have differentiated demands for a probable contract extension this summer.

Per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Nets “naturally prefer a shorter-term, incentive-laden agreement that includes benchmarks such as games played.”

On the other hand, the All-star guard is leaning towards signing a long-term contract with the franchise.

Irving may choose to decline his $36.9 million player option for next season and sign a much lucrative offer sheet with Brooklyn. Yet, that depends on the club’s leadership if they are willing to commit on it.

Still, the report has noted that both sides looked clear on discussing their plans moving forward and potentially landing a reunion.

Upon remaining devoted to his personal beliefs, Irving missed a bulky part of Nets’ home games last season in compliance to New York’s vaccine mandate.

The 30-year-old star only appeared in 29 regular season games, pulling off an average of 27.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 boards in almost 47 percent shooting.

The Nets had a downing 2022 campaign and will look to respond for next season after the four-game sweep of eventual Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics in the first-round.
