Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid will enter an offseason of recovery upon playing with battle scars this Playoffs.

The big man reportedly took a surgery to fix his injured right thumb, and also opted for another in his left index finger (h/t The Athletic’s Shams Charania). These two medical procedures aren’t expected to affect Embiid’s availability in his team’s training camp before the 2022-2023 season.

Embiid suffered from the said thumb injury in Game 3 of the Sixers’ first-round series against the Toronto Raptors. Still, even further sustaining an orbital fracture and mild concussion entering the second round, the Cameroonian big man willed through personal adversities as the undisputed main man of the Philly team.

Eventually, the Sixers fell against the Miami Heat in the East Semis. The MVP runner-up exited the 2022 postseason with an average of 23.6 points, 10.7 boards, and 2.1 assists.
