Mavericks’ Reggie Bullock Wins 2021-22 Social Justice Champion Award

Dallas Mavericks’ guard/forward Reggie Bullock has won the 2021-22 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion Award by the NBA.

“We are all one, and I believe love lies in everybody’s heart,” Bullock said.

“It’s incredibly important to me as a cisgender athlete to stand in support of the trans and LGBTQ+ community.”

Bullock’s sister Mia Henderson – a transgender woman — was murdered in 2014.

Since Henderson’s death, Bullock has marched for LGBTQ+ rights, participated in various events promoting LGBTQ+ rights, and created RemarkaBULL: “an organization focused on developing revitalized spaces for a stable life in the LGBTQ+ community.”

Milwaukee Bucks’ guard Jrue Holiday, Memphis Grizzlies’ forward/center Jaren Jackson Jr., Minnesota Timberwolves’ forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns, and Toronto Raptors’ guard Fred VanVleet were the other finalists.
