Denver Nuggets forward Bol Bol was supposed to be joining the Detroit Pistons this week, but the trade was called off after Bol failed his physical.

Mike Singer of the Denver Post reported the news on Thursday.

The details of why he failed the physical are not known, and there’s only one major injury in Bol’s past that the public is aware of.

The seven-foot-two center needed surgery after he fractured his left foot during his freshman year at Oregon.

He missed all but nine games and then declared for the 2019 draft.

He hasn’t had any injury trouble in his three seasons with the Nuggets.

It is quite rare when a team voids a trade, and the Nuggets had even posted a “Thank You” tweet on their Twitter account.

The last time the Pistons voided a trade was in 2016, when a three-team trade for Donatas Montiejunas was called off because of a failed physical.

Bol, who played in the Summer League,  has appeared in 14 games for the Nuggets this season, averaging 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 5.8 minutes per game.

A trade to the Pistons would have given Bol the opportunity to give his career a jolt of life in an environment where winning isn’t exactly expected, but for now, it appears that he’s staying put.

If the trade had been completed, it would have sent Rodney McGruder, and a 2022 second-round draft pick to Denver.

Bol Bol is the son of former NBA tall man Manute Bol.
