Tokyo Olympic basketball standings update

All 12 teams have now played two games in the men’s Olympic basketball tournament and just one game remains in group play.
In Group A, France defeated Czech Republic 97-77 and clinched the top spot in the group, as well as a place in the Quarter-Finals, while Team USA bounced back in comfortable fashion after their loss to France and blew out Iran 120-66.
Team USA and Czech Republic will square off in the final game of group play to determine who will finish second in Group A and automatically advance to the Quarter-Finals.
The loser will be the third place team and still have a chance to advance to the Quarter-Finals.
Group A
Next games: Iran vs. France, USA vs. Czech Republic
In Group B, Australia clinched their spot in the Quarter-Finals with an 86-83 win over Italy, while Germany rebounded from their loss to Italy and took down Nigeria 99-92.
Australia needs a win in their final group play game against Germany to finish first in Group B.
Second place in the group and an automatic birth in the Quarter-Finals is still very much up for grabs, while whoever finishes as the third place team will still have a chance to qualify.
Group B
Next games: Italy vs. Nigeria, Australia vs. Germany
In Group C, Slovenia continued their dominance led by Luka Doncic, beating host nation Japan 116-81 and clinching their spot in the Quarter-Finals, while Spain also booked their spot in the Quarter-Finals with a 81-71 win over Argentina.
Slovenia and Spain are set up for a clash to determine who will claim first place in Group C.
Argentina and Japan will square off in a must-win game, as the winner will finish third in the group and still have a chance to qualify for the Quarter-Finals.
Group C
Next games: Argentina vs. Japan, Spain vs. Slovenia
A draw will take place following the conclusion of the Group Phase to determine the pairings of the bracket for the Quarter-Finals.
The winners of the groups (3 teams) and the second-placed team with the best result (1 team) from the Group Phase are placed in one pot (D), while the two remaining second-placed teams and two best third-placed teams are placed in another pot (E).
Teams from the same group in the Group Phase cannot be drawn against each other in the Quarter-Finals, per FIBA.
