Mavs targeting Igor Kokoskov for assistant coach position, per report

Igor Kokoskov has received interest from the Dallas Mavericks for the assistant coach position next season.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report and Marc Stein of ESPN, the Mavs are attempting to hire Kokoskov and add him to the coaching staff.

Kokoskov has spent 20 years in the NBA, 19 of them as an assistant and one as head coach (Phoenix Suns, 2018/19).

The Serbian coach currently is the head coach of Fenerbahce and is under contract with the EuroLeague powerhouse until 2023.

The Dallas Mavericks are targeting Fenerbahce head coach Igor Kokoskov to join Jason Kidd’s coaching staff, per league sources. Kokoskov won EuroBasket 2017 with Luka Doncic as the Slovenian national team head coach.

After his EuroBasket success coaching Luka Doncic and Goran Dragic to a Cinderella title with Slovenia, Kokoskov was hired to coach the Phoenix Suns. He was afforded only one season on the Suns’ bench in 2018-19.
