Luke Walton will remain on the Sacramento Kings’ bench for at least the next season, his third with the California franchise.

According to James Ham of NBC Sports, Walton will continue as the head coach despite finishing the season with a poor 31-41 record.

The Kings are in the middle of a very long playoff drought as they concluded another season away from the postseason. Sacramento made it to the postseason for the last time back in the 2005-06 season.

Walton was hired in 2019 to lead the Kings after a promising season under David Joerger, which ended with a 39-43 record, just a few games away from the 8th seed.

Former general manager Vlade Divac chose to replace Joerger with Walton, who parted ways with the Lakers back in the summer of 2019. Since then, the Kings won just 62 games of its 82 games.
