The Minnesota Timberwolves have made the postseason just twice in the last 17 seasons. It’s a drought so extensive, so impressive, that it is only matched by one team in the NBA: the Sacramento Kings. Even with a playoff appearance as recent as 2018, the Timberwolves still find themselves with the third longest active playoff drought in the NBA: ahead of just the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls, and tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New Orleans Pelicans.

With the consistent struggles the Timberwolves have faced over the past few seasons, it looks like the best way to build would be through a relatively strong draft class. The only problem with that is that Minnesota doesn’t have a pick in this year’s draft, as of writing this.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have found themselves in the center of a lot of different trade talks, but are all these rumors something, or nothing?

So, with no pick and an incredibly limited amount of capital to work with in free agency this summer, it’s no wonder that their name has kept coming up in trade talks.

It seems like the Timberwolves’ name is often in the middle of these things, but this year more than most, Minnesota might be looking to make some moves in order to improve their outlook for next season. With a variety of names spanning a wide range of talent and accolades, surely some of these rumors are bound to be fire, while others are sure to be nothing but smoke.

With all of this talk circling around, it’s important to know which rumors might hold something of substance. Who could Minnesota see suiting up for them next season, and who has seen their days as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves come to an end?
